7-17 November, 2011
Following critically acclaimed performances throughout its 2010 European Tour, the Sydney Symphony and Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Vladimir Ashkenazy are set to tour Japan and Korea in November 2011, continuing the vital role the orchestra plays as Australia's leading cultural ambassador.
The orchestra's full ensemble of 96 musicians will perform eight concerts during the 11 day tour in the Japanese cities of Tokyo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Nishinomiya as well as in the South Korean capital, Seoul. The tour marks the orchestra's first visit to Korea in its 79-year history and is part of the 2011 Year of Friendship between Australian and Korea, marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
