The internationally-acclaimed Sydney Symphony is resident at the iconic Sydney Opera House, performing more than 200 concerts a year with some of the world's most illustrious conductors and soloists. The Orchestra aims to create and present symphonic music of the highest standard to the widest audience, to maintain prominence on the world stage, and to develop and interpret the art form from an Australian perspective.

Sydney Symphony seeks expressions of interest from musicians of outstanding ability for the following positions. These positions are open to candidates of any nationality.

Audition process
In order to make your initial application please submit a recording by July 23.
Successful candidates will be asked to a pre-audition in Europe or Australia, followed by a three week guest principal engagement with the Sydney Symphony.
The conclusion of the guest engagement will be with a Recital Audition.
Auditions in Europe will be between 27 August and 2 September 2010. Locations / city: tbc
Recording requirements
Recital, Solo piece or concerto of the candidate’s choice, representative of the candidates performing standard but please include 2 pieces with contrasting repertoire.
