For 20 years the Sydney Symphony Education Program has been providing quality professional learning for teachers and pre-service teachers. Our courses provide participating teachers with stimulating practical activities for classroom implementation and the confidence to deliver them.

Sydney Symphony are a NSW Institute of Teachers' endorsed provider of Institute Registered professional development for the maintenance of accreditation at Proficient Teacher/Professional Competence.

Scope of Endorsement (for the provision of music related professional development)

• Standards 1, 2 and 6 of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at the level of Proficient Teacher.
• Elements 1, 2 and 6 of the NSW Professional Teaching Standards at Professional Competence.

Each year all of our school concerts in Sydney and in regional NSW are supported by Professional Learning workshops that cover the repertoire within those concerts.  The Sinfonietta Composition project is also supported by workshops in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart and Perth.

The Meet the Music Professional Learning workshop focuses on the Australian and contemporary works featured during the year and shows how they relate to other works in the Meet the Music series.
