Sydney Symphony Orchestra / Education Program / Professional Learning Program

Sinfonietta Project

FREE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR

This is a national composition project, and is proving effective in finding and nurturing gifted young composers. Successful applicants chosen to participate in recent years have had their works performed on the main stage with the Sydney Symphony, and a world of opportunity and perspective opened up through this level of exposure.

Each year, the program’s Artistic Director, Richard Gill, selects a model work, from which students may gain inspiration and insight for their own compositions. In 2010 the model work is Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, featuring a chamber ensemble, including mezzo soprano.

We have prepared a comprehensive study kit on the model work. If you would like to request a copy of the kit, please contact education@sydneysymphony.com

Kim Waldock will lead a free teacher's seminar to further explain the teaching resource and the activities within. Please confirm your attendance by  email to education@sydneysymphony.com as soon as possible as we require numbers for catering.
