Calling all Composers!

What is the Sinfonietta Composition Project?
*A national project identifying composition talent – open to all Australian high school students.
*Students compose and submit an original piece based upon a model work or composition focus.
*It is supported by a preparation kit full of practical activities useful for teaching composition and an accredited professional learning seminar.
*Successful student compositions are workshopped by Richard Gill and members of Sydney Symphony Sinfonia.
*Even if your students don’t enter the project, you can benefit from using the Sinfonietta Composition Project Resource kit in your classroom and consolidate your students’ learning by attending the open workshop as observers.

Open Workshop
To end the project, Richard Gill and members of Sydney Symphony Sinfonia will present an open workshop, which you can attend with your students. Richard will unpack the composition principles of counterpoint and orchestral arrangement using material from Bach’s Musical Offering. Following this Richard and the musicians will workshop the successful submissions with the young composers.
