Sydney Symphony Announces 2013 Season

The Sydney Symphony and Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor,
Vladimir Ashkenazy, are proud to announce the orchestra's 2013
season. The season includes a stellar line-up of some of the
world's finest classical musicians, including pianist Murray
Perahia making his Australian debut, two performances of Britten's
War Requiem and a concert version of Wagner's Flying
Dutchman, together with performances of the highest calibre
throughout greater metropolitan Sydney and New South Wales.
Sydney Symphony Announces New Chief Conductor
The Sydney Symphony has announced the appointment of American
conductor David Robertson as its Chief Conductor and Artistic
Director from January 2014. David Robertson is known throughout the
world as a consummate musician, masterful programmer and dynamic
presence, and has established himself as one of today's most sought
after conductors. He is recognized as a passionate and compelling
communicator and has forged close relationships with major
international orchestras through his exhilarating music-making.
