Sydney, 11 August, 2008 - The Sydney Symphony has released a double-CD celebrating Sir Charles Mackerras’ return to the Orchestra he once called his own.
Sydney, 30 June 2008 – In February this year, the Sydney Symphony officially began its 2008 season with two glorious programs of music by Maurice Ravel, conducted by Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti.
Sydney, 27 May, 2008 – The Sydney Symphony has made available a live performance of Richard Meale’s landmark Australian work Very High Kings, the Orchestra’s first recording to be distributed exclusively online.
Sydney, 14 May 2008 – The Sydney Symphony pays tribute to one of Australia’s most illustrious composers and performers, Brett Dean, with a new CD of his works performed and recorded by the Sydney Symphony.
In June 2008, Sydney Symphony Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti returned to Sydney to conduct the Orchestra in the Australian premiere of his own composition, Cantata della vita (Song of Life), a work dedicated to the Sydney Symphony and the people of Sydney.
