Mozart at his most Romantic, Beethoven at his
most Classical, and the luminous, exotic sounds of a composer who
understands the 'mystery of the moment'.
This concert begins with a string of gems - tiny "moments",
captivating and luminous. In Mystery of the Moment, Henri
Dutilleux brings together a string orchestra, percussion and the
exotic ringing tones of the cimbalom to evoke the fleeting sounds
of night.
From the stillness of night emerges the sound of Mozart at his
most Romantic. Angela Hewitt, acclaimed for her radiant
interpretations, plays Mozart's D minor piano concerto - turbulent
and dramatic.
Beethoven, on the other hand, sheds his reputation as a scowling
genius in the sunny classicism of his Fourth Symphony.
