Sydney's favourite organist returns to the
console of the Sydney Opera House Grand Organ for another
breathtaking recital.
The program begins with Johann Sebastian Bach's great Toccata
and Fugue in D minor. (Yes, the famous one!) Orchestras might think
they can play this music, but there's simply nothing to match the
power and flexibility of the organ sound.
The ethereal sound of women's voices joins the mix for Brahms
and music by German organist Sigfrid Karg-Elert. Louis Vierne shows
the organ's meditative face; Mozart its dramatic verve. And
Karg-Elert brings the program to a close with a spectacular march
based on the hymn "Now thank we all our God". Behold the King of
Instruments!
