"Hello possums!" It's Dame Edna (and her
alter ego Barry Humphries) in a concert especially for
grown-ups.
After the broom-splitting magic of The Sorcerer's
Apprentice to begin, and then we're off to an evening of
storytelling. Barry, we're assured, will acquit himself with style
and taste in the Saint-Saëns' festive Carnival of the
Animals.
Then it's the housewife from Moonee Ponds in her best frock for
what she likes to call a "little story about bravery and animal
rights" Peter & the Wolf of course. Our finale is the
fabulously Spanishy tale of Juanita, a lobster living in a grotto
off the coast of Wales. Where else?
A special and shortened performance for families with children
is offered on Sunday 23 June 2pm at the Sydney Opera House. More
information on this concert can be found here.
Recording of Juanita the Spanish Lobster with
conductor Stephen Simon and the London Philharmonic Orchestra can
