The first appearance in Australia of one of
the great pianists of our time - not just a virtuoso, but a true
musician.
Shortly before we launched our 2013 concert season, we received
a note: 'Mr Perahia very much looks forward to having his
Australian debut in Sydney!'
Now we're delighted to announce the program for the first
appearance in Australia of one of the great pianists of our time.
Murray Perahia begins his solo recital with the music of Johann
Sebastian Bach, with whom he's been so closely associated for
twenty years. Beethoven's brilliant and tumultuous 'Appassionata'
sonata sits at the heart of the program. And in the second half he
gives us enticing miniatures by Schumann (Faschingsshwank aus
Wien) and the inspired musical poetry of Chopin.
A recital to remember!
Pre-concert talk by David Larkin in the Northern Foyer, 45
minutes before the performance.
