"Hello possums!' It's me Dame Edna, and I
will be your chaperone for this very special family concert
outing."
We begin with the broom-splitting magic of The Sorcerer's
Apprentice, and then the housewife from Moonee Ponds takes to
the stage in her best frock for what she likes to call a "little
story about bravery and animal rights" - Prokofiev's Peter
and the Wolf.
The finale is the fabulously Spanishy tale of Juanita, a lobster
living in a grotto off the coast of Wales. Where else?
A performance for grown-ups with additional music by Saint-Saƫns
and Falla is offered on Friday 21 & Saturday 22 June.
Recording of Juanita the Spanish Lobster with
conductor Stephen Simon and the London Philharmonic Orchestra can
be purchased at www.maestroclassics.com.
