Bequests

Play On! with the Sydney Symphony bequest program

Leaving a gift to the Sydney Symphony in your Will may be the most significant way you can contribute to the future of music. Below you can find information about the work the Sydney Symphony does, our Play On! program and some information about including bequests in your will.

If you don’t have a Will, then the first thing you should do is get some legal advice about creating one. The Public Trustee in your state will have a wealth of information on making a will and can help you find a solicitor.

Leaving a bequest is a big decision to make, if you would like to discuss how your gift can help the future of music please contact a member of our Philanthropy Office:

Sydney Symphony

Investing in the future of music

In 1932 the Sydney Harbour Bridge was opened, the racehorse Phar Lap died in San Francisco, and the new Australian Broadcasting Commission enlarged the studio orchestra it had inherited from 15 to 24 players – thus forming the ABC (Sydney) Symphony Orchestra.

Since those early days, powerful influences and historic milestones have shaped the development of the Sydney Symphony into Australia’s flagship orchestra. Today, under the artistic leadership of Vladimir Ashkenazy, the Sydney Symphony gives some 200 performances a year to audiences of more than 300,000 throughout NSW.

Our performances on stage at the Sydney Opera House represent just half of the Sydney Symphony’s annual activities. The other half of our work occurs in the wider community,
in outer-metropolitan and regional centres throughout the State; playing an important role in the development of young musicians, professional learning for teachers and the teaching of music in schools. We do all this and more because we believe in investing in the future of music.

While your gift will look after our future, we would like to thank you and ensure that you enjoy your connection to the Orchestra in the present. As a Play On! member, you will give us the opportunity to thank you personally for your contribution tothe world of music.

We would be delighted to keep you up-to-date with current developments at the Symphony, and share with you our achievements. So please beproud of your generosity and notify us of your gift.
