In addition to providing entertainment and a welcome moment of respite for hospital patients, their families and hospital staff, the program also provides an educational and interactive experience, particularly for young children, who are able to take part in the ‘Toy Symphony’-style program.
Though musical therapy has existed as a recognised industry for many years, the music4health program is the first known instance of a large health industry body and an established music institution working together to utilise and promote the practice on an ongoing basis.
