Sydney Symphony Orchestra / Support / Philanthropy

The Patrons Program

The Patrons Program plays a critical role in sustaining the Sydney Symphony's activities. Ticket sales to all performances contribute just over 40 per cent of the cost of running the Orchestra. This is matched by grant income from the Federal Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body, and the State Government of NSW through Arts NSW.

The remaining 20 per cent comprises funds the Orchestra raises itself, primarily through its development program (philanthropy and sponsorship). Without the Patrons Program, the Orchestra would simply not be able to sustain the quality and breadth of its activities.

Being a Patron

Connecting with your Orchestra

The Patrons Program is about feeling connected. Through a range of activities and events, members become closer to the Sydney Symphony, its musicians, staff and friends.

Being a patron connects you to the many beneficiaries of the Sydney Symphony's programs. These beneficiaries include teachers, school students, young artists and audience members, all of whose lives are enriched by the programs that you help make possible.

Patrons of the Sydney Symphony also develop a close connection to each other. Spending time with like-minded people who share your love of music can be an enriching and rewarding way to make new friends.
