Regional Touring

The Sydney Symphony Orchestra belongs not only to Sydney, but to the people of New South Wales who experience our world-class performances through our regional visits.

In 1938 we undertook our first regional tour, performing in Wollongong, Katoomba, Orange and Bathurst under the baton of our resident conductor Percy Code.

Today we reach new and existing audiences throughout New South Wales through:

  • One major annual Regional Tour, covering Northern, Southern or Western NSW
  • Four regional concerts per year as an extension of our Mozart in the City series
  • A biennial Brass Tour
  • Regular performances in regional centres by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship musicians

Our acclaimed Schools Concerts also travel to regional NSW each year as part of the major annual Regional Tour. These interactive concerts are presented during the daytime and are supported by teacher resources and professional workshops in the touring region.
