Renewals

Q. What is the closing date to renew my 2017 Season subscription?

To be eligible to renew your seats, you must submit your renewal by Friday 23 September 2016. If you do not renew before this date, your seats may be released and become available to others.

Q. Will I be able to keep the same seats as last time?

In the majority of series, only full-pack subscribers are guaranteed the same seats for the concerts each season. Subscribers to Master Series 6- and 4-concert packages, Metro Series 4-concert packages, Great Classics 4, Thursday Afternoon 4- and 5-concert packages and Tea & Symphony 4-concert packages are also entitled to renewable seating. Subscription packages comprising less than the full complement of concerts in the series will be seated in their selected reserve where possible. If we cannot accommodate your request, we will contact you to discuss options.

Booking Process

Q. What happens after I book?

Once we receive your order and payment in full we will mail your subscription pack (tickets, subscriber card, concert diary and diary stickers) to your nominated address.

If you are a new subscriber, we will assign seats in the seating reserve you have selected, or be in touch with you to discuss other seating options.

Q. Do I receive a discount if I book more than one series?

Any new or additional series from the 2017 season will be discounted by 20% up to 31 October 2016. For new subscribers in 2017, the discount applies to the less expensive of the two series selected. The discount does not apply to pre-existing multiple pack renewals. This discount applies to full price Premium to C-reserve packs only, and not in conjunction with other offers.

Q. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept the following methods of payment:

  • cheque
  • money order
  • cash (in person only)
  • Visa
  • Diners
  • Mastercard
  • Amex
  • Cheques should be made payable to 'Sydney Symphony Orchestra'.
Q. Do I get a discount if I book for a group?

You can certainly subscribe as a group, however there is no discount for group subscriptions. Subscription packages are already discounted from the full single ticket price - in some cases up to 32%. However, groups of 8 or more receive a 20% discount on single tickets. If you're planning outings with your group of friends or society, call us to discuss the best package that suits your dates and times. Call our box office (02) 8215 4600 to find out more.

Q. What concession proof does the SSO accept so I can receive a discount?

Concession discounts are available upon provision of proof for the following:

  • Holder of means-tested Australian pensions (including: Aged; Disability; Veterans' Affairs; Supporting Parent and Job Search)
  • Full-time students
  • Youth (30 years or under on 1 January 2017).

Holder of means-tested Australian pensions are now able to renew their subscriptions online. Youth subscribers must continue to provide proof of age via the box office. Please note that Seniors Cards are not means-tested and will not be accepted for a concession discount.

Your 2017 Season Subscription

Q. How does a subscription work?

Each year between January and December the SSO presents a season of around 100 concerts divided into 14 subscription series - and 2 customisable series. When you subscribe you choose one (or more) of these series to attend.

  • A series is a package of concerts on fixed dates that form an exciting journey through the season. You choose the series, the style of music, time and day of the week that suits you best.
  • Alternatively, you may choose a flexible Connoisseur's or Signature Selection package which allows you to 'create your own' season on the dates that suit you. You can include any of the Special Events in your Connoisseur's Selection, or choose from over 100 season concerts to make your Signature Selection.

Whether you choose a series, or a Connoisseur's or Signature Selection, you are a highly valued SSO subscriber with the benefits and privileges that come with that.

Q. What happens if I can't attend one of my concerts?

If you can't attend a performance in your series, or would simply prefer to enjoy a different concert, it's easy to exchange your tickets to another concert from Monday 21 November 2016.

Our Exchange Policy: Subscription tickets may be exchanged up to two working days before the performance for which tickets were originally issued. Depending on your subscription package and frequency of exchanges, you may be liable to pay a $5/ticket fee plus an upgrade cost - the full single ticket price of the concert you are moving to less your 10% subscriber saving.

  1. Subscribers in Masters 9, Metro 8, Connoisseur 8, Signature 8, Tea & Symphony 8 and Great Classics 7 are entitled to three (3) exchanges with no fee if moving outside the original series. Subsequent concert changes or reserve changes will incur fees and upgrades.
  2. Subscribers in Masters 6, Connoisseur 6, Signature 8, Metro 5, Mondays@7 and Thursday Afternoon Symphony 5 are entitled to two (2) exchanges with no fee if moving outside the original series. Subsequent concert changes or reserve changes will incur fees and upgrades.
  3. Subscribers in Emirates Metro 4A or 4B, Tea & Symphony 4A or B, Masters 4, Great Classics 4, Thursday Afternoon Symphony 4, Kaleidoscope, Connoisseur 4, Signature 4, Meet the Music, Mozart in the City, International Pianists in Recital, Playlist, Family Concerts, SSO at Carriageworks and the Cocktail Hour are entitled to one (1) exchange with no fee if moving outside the original series. Subsequent concert changes or reserve changes will incur fees and upgrades.
  • Exchanges may not be available for all concerts and are subject to the availability.
  • Exchanges can only be processed through the SSO's Box Office during business hours.
  • Fees and upgrade costs are payable at the time your exchange is made.
  • If you request an exchange into an improved seating reserve, you will be liable for the upgrade costs of moving to that better reserve. We cannot refund if you move to a lower reserve.
  • Subscribers cannot exchange into Special Events and Galas without upgrade costs. Please call the Box Office on (02) 8215 4600 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm) if you have any further questions.
Q. I've lost my tickets, what do I do?

Don't panic! Missing ticket vouchers can be arranged by telephoning the SSO on (02) 8215 4600 (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm)

If you need to replace tickets at a performance, enquire at the SSO Customer Service Desk. The desk is open one hour before each performance and is located in the Southern Foyer of the Concert Hall or the main foyer of the City Recital Hall.

Please note that exchanges are not available on lost tickets.

Q. I am unable to attend all of my series concerts, can I transfer the seats to someone else?

Subscribers have the option to transfer their seats to another patron in the event they might be travelling for most of the season. Simply request a transfer form from the box office before the renewal deadline of Friday 23 September 2016.

Q. What if I'd like to hear a concert that's not in my series?

Subscribers have several options for supplementing their series packages or even substituting concerts from a different series. Why not supplement your series with single tickets? Single tickets are available to subscribers ahead of their release to the general public, from Monday 21 November 2016. Or you can purchase tickets for special events. Subscribers receive a 10% discount on most additional performances.
