General terms for purchasing tickets & attending concerts

The following are the general terms and conditions applying to the purchase of tickets to performances of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO). By forwarding an application, you will be taken as having read, understood and accepted the terms and conditions. If you acquire tickets on behalf of anyone else, you are deemed to have agreed to these terms on your own behalf and as an agent for them.

Your agreement with the SSO for the purchase of a ticket is governed by the laws of New South Wales.

Right of Admission

The right of admission is reserved.

Valid Tickets

Tickets are valid only when purchased from SSO or an authorised agent.

All patrons, irrespective of age, must hold a valid ticket and occupy a seat or dedicated position (unless this has the potential to cause injury to the person). Entry may be refused if tickets are damaged in anyway, or not purchased from authorised points of sale.

Fees

A booking fee may applicable.

Change of artist or program

The SSO reserves the right to vary, substitute or withdraw advertised programs, artist, venue and seating arrangements, and to vary prices.

The SSO is not liable to you for any claims, damages, compensation, losses or expenses as a result of an SSO performance being cancelled, postponed or changed.

Refunds

Any monies due to subscribers as a result of the SSO being unable to satisfy ticket requests will be refunded automatically. In other cases, refunds are not available, except as specified in the Live Performance Australia Ticketing Code of Practice (liveperformance.com.au).

Concessions

Concession subscriptions are available to current holders of means-tested Australian pensions (Aged, Disability, Veterans’ Affairs, Supporting Parent) and to Australian full-time students. Proof of concession eligibility must be supplied when booking and may be required before admission to each concert. Tickets will not be posted until such proof is supplied.

Lost or forgotten tickets

Lost or forgotten tickets will only be replaced where the SSO is satisfied that such tickets have been purchased by you in accordance with these terms and conditions, and where proof of purchase is available.

Age suitability

Most classical performances may be unsuitable for children under eight (8) years of age.

Concerts in our Family Concerts series may be suitable for ages 5 and over. Parents and guardians are encouraged to make the best judgement as to suitability.

Late arrival to concerts

Patrons arriving late will not be able to be admitted into the venue's auditorium until there is a suitable break in the performance.

Disruptions

Patrons who disrupt a performance, or who are in use or possession of a prohibited object, may be asked to leave the venue without refund of ticket purchase.

Cameras & phones

Cameras and other recording devices are prohibited in the venue's auditorium. Mobile telephones, pagers and similar equipment must be turned off before entry into the venue's auditorium.

Authorised recordings & photography at concerts

The SSO reserves the right to record, broadcast and simulcast any performance. If you are photographed, filmed or taped whilst attending an SSO performance, you consent to the SSO or third parties appointed by the SSO photographing, filming and taping you. The SSO or third parties appointed by the SSO can broadcast, publish, license and use any photographs, film, recordings and images of you without compensation. The SSO, the third parties and anyone acquiring from them a right to use the material are not liable to you in any way for its use.

Personal safety & liability

Ticket holders enter the Venue at their own risk. The layout of the SSO's venues may be unfamiliar to you, so you must take care at all times. You acknowledge that you are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of any person accompanying you.

To the extent permitted by the law, you release the SSO (including its directors, officers, employees, consultants, contractors, agents and volunteers) from any liability for any damage, loss, liability or injury you may suffer in relation to your attendance at a venue, howsoever caused, including due to any negligence or other act or omission of the SSO.

You agree to compensate the SSO for any damage, loss, liability or injury the SSO may suffer as a result of your wilful, reckless or negligent acts or omissions at a venue.

You acknowledge that you are responsible for your own property.

Offers to patrons

From time to time, the SSO may make offers in relation to services available to ticket holders. These offers are subject to change without notice. The SSO is not responsible for the performance of third parties in relation to any offer or service.

The SSO may choose not to enforce some of these terms in some cases. That does not mean that the SSO has waived its right to enforce some or all of them as it sees fit. If any of these terms cannot be enforced, the remaining terms will survive.

If you have any questions about these General terms and conditions, please call the SSO on (02) 8215 4600 Monday–Friday 9am–5pm, click LIVE CHAT for a real time response during business hours or email info@sydneysymphony.com.

Terms & conditions for renewing & booking your 2018 subscription

Subscriptions to Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO) performances are subject to the SSO’s Conditions of Sale and to the requirements of the venue at which the performances are presented.

When you subscribe, the SSO will issue you with your own personal subscriber number which will appear on your subscriber card. Please record this number to quote in any further correspondence or contact with the SSO regarding your tickets.

Renewing subscribers

To be eligible to renew your seats, you must submit your renewal by Friday 29 September 2017. If we cannot accommodate your request, we will contact you to discuss other options. If you do not renew your subscription by this date, your seats may be released and become available to others.

You can:

  • renew your current Pre-Designed or Create Your Own subscription with no changes, or
  • request a change to your seating, number of seats you require or series (subject to availability), or
  • transfer your seats to another patron if you know you’ll be away. Simply request a transfer form from the box office before Friday 29 September 2017.

Most subscribers are guaranteed the same seats for the concerts in Pre-Designed Packages only. A full list of Pre-Designed packages with renewable seating is here.

New subscribers

New subscribers are offered the best available seats after existing subscribers have been allocated their seats. Tickets will be sent as soon as possible after we receive payment in full.

Youth <30 subscribers

Youth subscriptions are available to people aged 30 years or under on 1 January 2018. Proof of age must be supplied when booking and may be required before admission to each concert.

Pre-Designed and Create Your Own Youth packages are seated in C-reserve unless accompanied by a full-price subscription in another reserve, in which case the youth and full-priced subscriptions will be seated together, subject to availability. One full-price subscription allows for one youth subscription seated in the same reserve. Additional youth subscriptions require additional full-price subscriber purchases for companion seating.

Processing your subscription

After 10 August 2017, we will begin to process orders by the date in which they are received for each series category. The categories are prioritised as follows:

  1. Renewing full Pre-Designed and Create Your Own packages without change requests.
  2. Renewing full Pre-Designed and Create Your Own packages with change requests.
  3. New full Pre-Designed and Create Your Own packages orders.

Payment options

Payment by credit card, cheque, money order or cash must accompany your booking. Cash payments can be made in person at the SSO, Clocktower Square, cnr Argyle & Harrington streets, The Rocks.

If you choose an instalment payment plan your first deposit is non-refundable after initial payment is processed. Subsequent payments will be automatically deducted from your credit card on the first Friday of each month. All payments will be completed in January 2018. Final credit card deduction on Friday 5 January 2018.

Once we receive your order and payment in full, we will mail your subscription pack (including tickets, subscriber card, concert diary and diary stickers). If you have elected to pay in instalments, your tickets will be mailed to you after the balance of your payment is paid.

Cheque payments are only available with two-part payment plans (20%/80% or 50%/50%). If you have paid by cheque, we will mail you a reminder to pay your final instalment.

Concessions

Concession subscriptions are available on selected packages to current holders of means-tested Australian pensions (Aged, Disability, Veterans’ Affairs, Supporting Parent) and to Australian full-time students. Proof of concession eligibility must be supplied when booking and may be required before admission to each concert. Tickets will not be sent until such proof is supplied.

Refunds

Refunds are not available, except as specified in the Entertainment Code of Fair Practice. The 20% deposit on subscription bookings is not refundable.

Change of artist or program

The SSO reserves the right to vary, substitute or withdraw advertised programs, artist, venue and seating arrangements, and to vary prices.

Subscribers may exchange tickets from Monday 20 November 2017.

Alternatively, subscription tickets may be exchanged up to two working days before the performance for which tickets were originally issued.
