Alexander Gavrylyuk in Recital

Alexander Gavrylyuk in Recital

We welcome home Ukrainian-born pianist Alexander Gavrylyuk for a classic virtuoso recital program.

For Alexander Gavrylyuk, Sydney is a second home and we're delighted to welcome him back! In 2017 he brings a classic recital program that begins with one of the great Busoni transcriptions of Bach (it's the Toccata and Fugue that Stokowski made famous in Fantasia) and ends with Rachmaninoff's mighty second piano sonata. This is a program worthy of a virtuoso: with the Classical poise of Haydn, the wild colours of Scriabin and the technical brilliance of Chopin etudes – including the thrilling roller coaster that is the "Revolutionary" etude.

‘‘...one of the greatest discoveries of the past decade. Every time he enchants the public with his incredible virtuosity and suggestive playing.’’

De Telegraaf, Amsterdam, 2015

The recital will conclude at approximately 9.10pm.
