Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Tchaikovsky

Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Tchaikovsky

The “queen of the violin” returns to Sydney to perform Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in a concert conducted by David Robertson.

It’s the Special Event of 2018 and we’re thrilled to welcome back “the queen of the violin” Anne-Sophie Mutter, this time playing Tchaikovsky’s brilliant Violin Concerto – adored by audiences. She first performed it as a wunderkind with Karajan conducting, and now as a mature artist she continues to infuse it with her radiant tone and winning style.

In another special treat, David Robertson will introduce Sydney audiences to the sweeping, Romantic sounds of Kalinnikov’s first symphony. Younger than Tchaikovsky and a little older than Rachmaninoff, Vasily Kalinnikov wrote music filled with memorable melodies and opulent orchestral colour. His music will be new to us but his first symphony, in particular, remains a staple in Russian concert halls. Book early for the highlight of the season!
