Experience the spectacular sound of the Sydney Opera House Grand Organ with David Drury at the console.
The Grand Organ of the Sydney Opera House is one of the most magnificent instruments of its kind and it’s always a treat to hear it solo, especially when the performer is Sydney’s star organist David Drury. In this recital he shows off two sides of the Grand Organ. Its warm, articulate sound makes it extraordinarily well-suited to the music of Bach and Mendelssohn. At the same time it has a repertoire of colours that’s perfect for composers from the French school. And he’s filled the program with the familiar sounds of great melodies, from the highlights of Bach’s cantatas (‘Sleeper’s wake’) to ‘Lift Up Your Heads’ from Handel’s Messiah and even the chimes of Big Ben in Vierne’s Carillon de Westminster!
