Dramatic Mozart
A Mozart Celebration

Hear the wild side of Mozart in the first of our Mozart Celebration programs with David Robertson and pianist Emanuel Ax.

Do you think of Mozart as a perpetually sunny composer? Calm, refined… relaxing even? In this concert David Robertson and Emanuel Ax are out to show you just how stormy and dramatic Mozart could be. Experience the crashing, ominous chords of the Don Giovanni overture and the urgent tension in his deliciously gloomy Symphony No.40 in G minor. And there’s still more turbulence when Emanuel Ax takes to the stage in the great D minor piano concerto (K466). Mozart might have died in 1791 but if this program is any guide, he was a Romantic at heart!
