Delight in a little night music by Beethoven, Haydn and the musicians of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Twelfth-century abbess, mystic, scientist and poet Hildegard of Bingen invokes the ‘celestial symphony’ in her plainchant Ave Generosa. A song of praise to music and nature is the perfect way to begin a concert overlooking Sydney Harbour, played here by members of our earthly Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

As the sun sets, contemplate Beethoven’s string serenade. This party piece intended for a soirée ushers in dances and songs with a jaunty march. Arranged for your entertainment by our Principal Double Bass Kees Boersma.

Haydn enjoyed surprising twists so he would have welcomed Principal Cor Anglais Alexandre Oguey’s appropriation of his ‘Gypsy Rondo’ piano trio for his gorgeous instrument and a company of strings.
