In 1792, the enterprising young Beethoven capitalised on the trend for wind band music with an octet for the Elector of Bonn. Three years later, now in Vienna and still just as enterprising, he rewrote this joyous and elegant music in a version for string quintet. In this concert, we reclaim the music’s original colours with a modern arrangement for wind quintet.
