Discover the vivid imagery of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – one of the most famous pieces of classical music ever written.
Antonio Vivaldi was one of the best violinists of his time and wrote many pieces we love today. Most popular of all are his Four Seasons violin concertos. They paint pictures of the Italian seasons: the gentle breezes of Spring, insects buzz in the Summer heat, a hunt in Autumn and sitting inside next to the fire listening to the rain in Winter.
Vivaldi wrote poems to go with each season, but with the help of young writers from the Sydney Story Factory, we’ll hear new poems, while the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Concertmaster Andrew Haveron play Vivaldi’s colourful and very tricky concertos. Brilliant young violinist Christian Li (aged 10) performs the Summer concerto, with its exciting lightning storm.
