As a director, Grace Barnes has worked on many musical productions. She was the associate director on the London premiere of The Witches of Eastwick and resident director for the UK production of Martin Guerre, both for Cameron MacKintosh. She directed Ordinary Days at the Darlinghurst Theatre and was resident director on the Australian tours of West Side Story and Guys and Dolls. She was also the resident director for the Australian and German productions of Sunset Boulevard. Grace has been a guest director for Opera Australia on productions of Il Turco in Italia, Fiddler on the Roof, Simon Boccanegra and Falstaff.
She is currently in her second year of PhD research at UTS and her book on women and musical theatre, Her Turn on Stage, was published earlier this year in the US by McFarland.
