Yvonne Frindle began her career in orchestral administration in 1996, following an ABC/Youth Music Australia Music Presentation Fellowship, and since then has worked in editorial and programming roles serving all six of the Australian symphony orchestras, including 13 years editing program books for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Highlights include programming three seasons as Artistic Administrator of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra in Perth, where she returns annually to give talks, and three years as Artistic Administrator of Apollo’s Fire (Cleveland Baroque Orchestra).
Her writing has been published by all the major Australian concert presenters and visiting orchestras and ballet companies, as well as local and international record labels, ensembles overseas and Limelight magazine. She has been presenting pre-concert talks since 1997 – for Apollo’s Fire and the Cleveland Orchestra as well as in Australia – and has created audio features and podcasts for the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and ABC Classic FM. A lapsed flutist and pianist, nowadays she spends more time in the ballet studio than the music studio, while continuing to share her enthusiasm for orchestral music with audiences through her writing and speaking.
