In 2018, a three-year pilot program commenced in partnership with Credit Suisse and Sydney Symphony Orchestra to increase access to music education in six selected Australian primary schools.
The Credit Suisse Sydney Symphony Orchestra Schools Music Education Program supports teachers from each of the six schools to participate in accredited professional development, preparing them to teach music in the classroom. Generations of students can benefit from their teachers’ new music skills and knowledge.
During the three-year program students are treated to an excursion to the Sydney Opera House and Credit Suisse’s Sydney office. The children are presented with a world of possibilities in two diverse industries: a professional orchestra and international financial services. Each year will also see students enjoy a workshop in their school delivered by Sydney Symphony Orchestra musicians.
John Knox (CEO, Credit Suisse Australia) and Emma Dunch (CEO, Sydney Symphony Orchestra) sat down to discuss the program’s vision and the impact of music in their lives.
