Living Waters, Vital Song
In collaboration with the Sydney Conservatorium of Music
Music Workshop, Sydney Conservatorium of Music
Fri 23 Jul, 2027, 7.00pm
This fascinating concert, curated by Australian composer, educator and researcher Liza Lim – one of the leading musical voices of our time – and featuring the Sydney Symphony Fellows, reexamines the impact music can have on our world.
Yuin composer Brenda Gifford’s concerto for Double Bass player Benjamin Ward is shaped by their field work on the NSW South Coast and reflects on custodianship and connection to Country.
A striking new work by Kate Milligan flows from her long engagement with water – its movements, logics and histories – tracing waterways shadowed by imperial and industrial legacies.
Two further works by Rachel Myers and Nathaniel Otley have been created for this concert, which celebrates the ongoing partnership between our Fellows and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music – an exchange that nurtures artistic collaboration, experimentation, and responsiveness to place.
