Simone Young conducts Beethoven’s Symphonies 1, 2 & 3
Beethoven Festival
Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House
Wed 16 Jun, 2027, 7.00pm
Thu 17 Jun, 2027, 7.00pm
Our Beethoven Festival begins with the first two symphonies, sparking with invention and mischief, before the Eroica sets a new horizon for what music can be.
These symphonies are where Beethoven found his symphonic voice – and changed music forever. The First and Second charm with wit and energy. Then his Third, the Eroica, discards the rulebook altogether. Bold, expansive and unmistakably new. From cracking chords to sweeping lyrical melodies, it bends Classical elegance into unrelenting Romantic fire.
200 years since Beethoven’s death, Chief Conductor Simone Young presents all nine symphonies across two spectacular weeks, tracing a body of work that reshaped the possibilities of the symphonic form.
