Australian conductor Jen Winley was appointed West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s inaugural Associate Conductor in 2024, after holding the Assistant Conductor position since 2022. An accomplished percussionist and timpanist, Jen has previously appeared in regular performance with WASO, as well as with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. She returned to MSO in 2024 for her first conducting appearance with the orchestra. In 2026, she conducted the Melbourne, Queensland, Canberra, Christchurch and West Australian Symphony Orchestras.

Jen made her professional conducting debut in 2020 while participating in West Australian Symphony Orchestra’s Emerging Conductors program. She went on to lead the orchestra in a wide variety of performances, including subscription mainstage concerts, Family, Education and Community Engagement projects, regional tours, films in concert, and contemporary and recording projects. Highlights from her cross-genre projects include conducting WASO in Home Alone in Concert and the world-premiere performances of Drapht and WASO: How the West Was Won; a collaboration with Perth hip-hop artist Drapht that culminated in the orchestra’s first music videos. Jen recently became a member of an exclusive group of conductors around the world who are approved to conduct Disney in Concert events, going on to conduct WASO in Star Wars:The Force Awakens and Toy Story in Concert. She made a further company début with West Australian Opera as Music Director for Sondheim’s Into the Woods.

Jen is highly focused on innovative programming development for educational and family concerts and has frequently collaborated with acclaimed UK animateur Paul Rissmann, most recently conducting the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in Sounds Like an Orchestra. She has played a key role in developing several shows in this genre for WASO. Jen spent several years as a classroom educator and continues to enjoy working with young people. She currently oversees the WASO Conducting Fellowship Program, has conducted the Western Australian Youth Orchestra since 2019 and made her debut with the Melbourne Youth Orchestra in 2025.

She conducted Symphony on the Waterfront in 2025 in her début with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and returned to West Australian Opera as Assistant Conductor for their season of Verdi’s Il trovatore.

A Helpmann and Sydney Theatre Award Winner, Amy is acclaimed as one of Australia’s most versatile leading ladies.

Her career has traversed singing the hills alive as Maria in The Sound of Music to delivering pop power ballads and comedic asides as Anne Hathaway in &Juliet.

Most recently Amy has been touring Australia in Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort Of). Other notable roles include Dusty Springfield in Dusty, Cynthia Weil in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Mrs Walker in the Who’s Tommy, Principal Rosalie Mullins in School of Rock, Christine in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, violinist Reza in Once, Sherrie in Rock of Ages, Janet in Rocky Horror and the 2008 and 2012 casts of Eddie Perfect’s Shane Warne the Musical.

In demand as a solo artist, she has performed in concert with the Melbourne, West Australian, Queensland and Adelaide Symphony Orchestras and is excited to be returning to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Amy has also written and performed solo cabaret shows for Sydney’s Teatro, QPAC and Opera Queensland.

Amy’s screen credits include Australian Epic, Get Krack!n, Utopia and The Time of our Lives. She is the creator and co-writer of the webseries Donnatelegrams.

Amy will be starring as the Baker’s Wife in Opera Queensland’s production of Into the Woods this November.

Matthew Horsley is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and ethnomusicologist specialising in the uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes). He has performed extensively across classical, experimental, popular, jazz and folk genres, with artists such as ELISION Ensemble, the Australian Art Orchestra, Steve Reich, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Speak Percussion. He played Irish flutes, whistles and uilleann pipes with the Australian production of the acclaimed musical Come From Away from 2019 to 2023.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Music in percussion from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, a Master of Music Performance (by Research) from the Victorian College of the Arts and a PhD in ethnomusicology from Monash University, where he maintains a teaching role. His first uilleann piping album, Australian Waters, was released in 2015.

SPC is also proud to have been the choir of choice for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra since 1936.
