On-Street Parking

On-street parking is available in the areas around the venue. Pay and display machines operate on a number of parking spaces in the city centre. Patrons are advised to check restrictions before leaving their vehicle.

There are limited accessible parking spaces, 1/4 hour parking and drop-off zones on Burelli Street outside IPAC. Street parking is free on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays but time restrictions may apply. Please be sure to read street signs carefully.

Off-Street Parking

The Council operated Stewart Street East Car Park is located within a 10 minute walk of the Wollongong Arts Precinct.

Parking fees apply during weekdays. Parking is free and without time restrictions after 4.30pm (on weekdays), weekends and public holidays.

Undercover Car Parks

Parking is available at the Wollongong City Council car park (access from Stewart Street). The car park has 24 hour entry and exit surveillance and is monitored by CCTV. Parking fees apply before 5pm. After 5pm is free.

Buses

The free Gong Shuttle route (number 55) stops immediately in front of Illawarra Performing Arts Centre. The shuttle runs between 7am–10pm on weekdays and 8am–6pm on weekends. Visit the website for more information. The weekend service operates every 20 minutes between 8.00am and 6.00pm.

Trains

Wollongong train station is located on the South Coast Line, approximately 1 hr 30 mins south of Sydney. The train station is an easy 15 minute walk away. Visit Transport NSW’s website for timetable and other information, www.transportnsw.info.

Wollongong Town Hall is an accessible venues. Staff are on hand to help assist you get into, and around the venue. Selected seats in each theatre are held for patrons who use wheelchairs or have other mobility concerns. Please call the venue's Box Office on 02 4224 5999 to talk to them about any accessible requirements including the type of wheelchair you use.

The venue accepts Companion Cards. Seats for your companion can only be booked in person or by phoning the venue's Box Office with Companion Cards to be sighted upon ticket collection.

The Main Auditorium of the Wollongong Town Hall have an induction hearing loop compatible with T-switch hearing aids.

Select performances are captioned for patrons who are d/Deaf or hearing impaired. The Bruce Gordon Theatre and Main Auditorium of Wollongong Town Hall will have mobile captioning via GoTheatrical! app. Please download the app prior to your performance. Please mention live captioning when booking to ensure you are in the best position to make use of this service.

Auslan (Australian Sign Language) is the primary sign language used by the Deaf community in Australia. For select performances, we offer Auslan interpretation to ensure that Deaf and hard-of-hearing patrons can fully enjoy their experience in our theatres.

Select performances are Audio Described for the benefit of patrons with low or no vision. Actions, expressions and gestures are described by professional describers trained by Vision Australia to bring out the true imagery in a performance. Patrons who are blind and/or vision impaired will hear the description through headsets. Please mention Audio Description when booking.

Before Audio Described performances, patrons have the opportunity to participate in a 30-minute Tactile Tour. Being amongst the scenery establishes the scene and allows for a deeper theatrical experience for patrons who are vision impaired or blind. Please mention Tactile Tour when booking.

Communication Boards* are available at our on-site Café (The Social) and Box Office (Town Hall & Illawarra Performing Arts Centre).

Merrigong Theatre Company has customised our own Communication Board with particular symbols that reflect our operations and services. Please click here to access a downloadable version.

*This tool allows anyone with communication challenges to express themselves through a visual aid by either gesturing, pointing to or blinking at the symbols represented on the board which our staff will then respond to accordingly.
