Open Rehearsal with Donald Runnicles
Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House
Wed 12 May, 2027, 7.00pm
Join us at an open rehearsal and watch as a Sydney Symphony Orchestra performance takes shape in front of your eyes.
Principal Guest Conductor of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sir Donald Runnicles has had a long and remarkable career across symphonic, opera and choral repertoire. But it is choral music where Sir Donald started out, as the son of an Edinburgh choirmaster, and there are few conductors in the world who more passionately marshal orchestra, choir and soloists together.
In this special open rehearsal, listen as he prepares the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and a world-class cast of soloists to perform Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis – the work Beethoven himself declared was the best thing he ever composed.
Please note this is a working rehearsal.
With music and artists from Donald Runnicles conducts Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis.
