Principal Trumpet David Elton performs Carl Höhne’s Slavonic Fantasy.
Carl Höhne was a German composer and cornet player from the late Romantic era, best known for his Slavische Fantasie or Slavonic Fantasy.
Its title refers to the style and inspiration of the piece – free-flowing music which almost feels improvised by the performer and draws on the rich musical language of Eastern Europe.
Our Principal Trumpet, David Elton, perfectly captures the spirit of Höhne’s music as it transforms, from a dramatic and lyrical opening to the spirited and energetic music of its finale.
